Global Cents patches are released continuously: some address OpenText and Global Cents product shortcomings (bug fixes), some add new features, and some address customer specific needs. With a complex solutions like OpenText Content Suite and Extended ECM Platforms that are constantly evolving, it’s often challenging to figure out which patches from Global Cents apply to which versions of Content Suite, particularly when patches themselves can be required, optional, introduce new features, or address a customer-specific issue.
Which Global Cents patches should you install?
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a tool that would tell you which patches you need based on both the Global Cents products you’ve installed and the release of OpenText Content Suite you’ve deployed? Wouldn’t it be nice if that tool was able to zip and download them so you can get them installed?
We’ve created the Global Cents Patch Report Tool to address this and it’s available to you now! Here’s how it works.
First, login to the Customer Portal (if you need a login, contact us) and select GCI Patch Report. Select your Content Suite version, the Global Cents products you’ve installed (including their versions), and then we’ll generate an initial listing with all the possible patches.
From that list of possible patches, you can then filter in or out
- those patches that are required or optional,
- those that introduce new features, and / or
- those that address specific customer support fixes.
Once you’ve identified which patches you’re interest in, you can then zip up and download them. From there you can follow the normal Content Suite module installation instructions to get them installed. Note that in some cases the patches do not require a Content Suite module install so be sure to scan each patch’s installation instructions.
